2011 National Anti-Corruption Award

Change how, not simply who governs.

Ted Downing was award one of two national Anti-Corruption Award for his work on writing the initial draft of the Arizona Top 2 Primary  (Open Elections/Open Government) Initiative,  a change in elections that may structurally check the out of control hyper-partisanship in the US Congress. The award was made by the New York Independent Parties.

Review Ted’s on-going work to end government financing of political parties and institute a new open election system, the Primary Election Initiative gathered over 350,000 signatures and was on the ballot in November 2012, but failed to pass.  As it California, it may take several attempts.

Professionally, Ted continues with this attempt to avoid and mitigate the impact on people who find themselves in the pathway of development project. Millions of people worldwide are needlessly impoverished by forced displacement.
